摘要

The effect of SiO2 addition to the Fe2O3 adsorbent composition onto the adsorption performance in the removal process of As(III) from waters was studied. The studied materials (Fe2O3 and mixtures Fe2O:SiO2) were obtained by annealing at 800 degrees C of ammonium ferric alum and Mohr salts, alone or mixed with SiO2. SiO2 was added to the Fe2O3 exhausted adsorbent with arsenic content in order to make it suitable for recycling in iron glass applications. Equilibrium, kinetic and thermodynamic studies were carried out to study the adsorption performance of the obtained oxides in the removal process of As(Ill) from aqueous solutions and from natural underground waters. The study revealed that SiO2 presence significantly improves the adsorption capacity of the powders. All the studied materials are very efficient as adsorbents in the removal process of As(III) from natural underground water. This behaviour is very favourable for the perspective of the waste immobilization in vitreous matrices.
