摘要

Intensity noise of erbium-doped fiber source is the main factor that affects random walk coefficient and signal to noise ratio in high-precision fiber optic gyroscopes. So the intensity noise needs to be suppressed to make high-precision fiber optic gyroscopes. On the purpose of reducing random walk and increasing signal to noise ratio a new intensity noise suppression method is proposed. According to the characteristic that polarized light leads to bigger intensity noise than un-polarized light, transmitting the polarized light into un-polarized light with a Lyot depolarizer can reduce the intensity noise. The random walk and signal to noise ratio variations with polarization degree are analyzed and simulated.
