摘要
An overview of the recent molecular spectroscopic work on the methylxanthine alkaloid theobromine and its two closely related relatives, caffeine and theophylline, is presented. The role of molecular spectroscopy in studies of the coordination chemistry of these methylxanthine compounds is also briefly discussed.
