摘要

Distinct mitochondrial DNA haplotypes, based on the presence or absence of a Tag I restriction site in the control region, distinguished largemouth bass Micropterus salmoides of the northern subspecies (N = 62) from the Florida subspecies (N = 28). The presence of either northern (N = 6) or Florida (N = 3) haplotypes in Lake Wateree, South Carolina, suggests that these haplotypes will be particularly useful in detecting the coexistence of these subspecies.
