Magnetodielectric effect in NaNbO3-NiFe2O4 particulate composite

摘要

A novel magnetodielectric composite of NaNbO3-NiFe2O4 was prepared by a solid-state procedure. Presence of Orthorhombic Pbma NaNbO3 phase and Cubic Fd3m NiFe2O4 phase was revealed by the X-ray diffraction analysis and further confirmed by the surface morphology and chemical composition analysis. The composite demonstrates well-defined magnetic and dielectric properties. Of particular interest, we have observed an increase of dielectric constant with applying magnetic field at room temperature, which signifies the magnetodielectric effect in the composite. It is believed that the magnetodielectric effect in the NaNbO3-NiFe2O4 composite could be associated with the direct consequence of the coupling between the piezoelectric NaNbO3 phase and magnetostrictive NiFe2O4 phase.
