摘要

The main objective of the present study is to examine body image (dis) satisfaction among female and male Portuguese adolescents and adults. In addition, psychometric studies of the Portuguese version of the Contour Drawing Rating Scale (CDRS; Thompson & Gray, 1995) are presented. Participants were 1423 adolescents and adults, who completed the CDRS and the Eating Disorder Examination-Questionnaire. In order to study test-retest reliability of CDRS, 55 college students completed CDRS at two times of measurement, with an interval of two weeks between assessments. Most female and male adolescents, as well as female adults, presented a normal weight; however, most of men were overweight. Significant generation and gender differences related to body image satisfaction were found: adolescents were more satisfied with their body image than adults; body image satisfaction was higher among males than females. Results clearly support the reliability and the validity of the CDRS in a Portuguese sample, emphasizing its usefulness as a measure of body image perception and satisfaction in the general population. Further, this measure allowed distinguishing groups with and without clinical criteria of eating disorders in regards to body image dissatisfaction.
