The PLE (partition local equilibrium)/NPLE (negligible partition local equilibrium) model was introduced into the deformed system to describe the gamma -> alpha transformation in Fe-C-X alloy steel (X represents for one or several substitutional elements such as Mn, Si, Cr, etc.). On the basis of the calculation method in static system reported, a thermodynamic equation which suits for the plastic deformed system was established under the orthoequilibrium model and used to calculate the PLE/NPLE critical temperature. Isothermal gamma -> alpha transformation experiments were conducted to a Fe-C0.073-Mn2.17-Si0.80-Cr0.88 (mass fraction, %) steel under different temperatures after hot deformation at 820 V and the critical temperature of PLE/NPLE was roughly measured. The experimental results correspond well with the calculated ones. For the tested steel after a 40% nominal deformation at 820 degrees C and deformed rate of 0.5 s(-1), the critical temperature of PLE/NPLE in isothermal a transformation was raised nearly 10 degrees C.
