摘要

The European Early Oligocene is well-known for the extinction (and immigration) of taxa because of the cooler and drier climate, compared with the Eocene. Late Oligocene lizards are rare in Central European fossil deposits. This paper deals with the lizard material from the Late Oligocene (MP 28) locality of Herrlingen 8 (Germany). The lacertid material from Herrlingen 8 is described as Pseudeumeces cf. cadurcensis. Although it consists only of one dentary, the find of P. cf. cadurcensis from this locality is the first proof of the former existence of this genus outside France. Besides this lacertid, the subfamily Anguinae is also represented at Herrlingen 8. The disarticulated and fragmentary material includes dentaries, a fragment of the pterygoid, vertebrae and osteoderms. The material from Herrlingen 8 shows characteristics identical to those of the genus Ophisaurus s.l. However, distinguishing between the Ophisaurus and Hyalosaurus taxa in such fragmentary fossil material is impossible. Therefore, we have attributed this anguid lizard material only to the subfamily level. The lizard material described in this paper provides important new data on the palaeoherpetofauna during a particularly interesting time - the Late Oligocene (MP 28) in Central Europe.
