摘要
Extraction and alkali-catalyzed transesterification of lipid from Chlorella sp. USTB-01 to biodiesel were investigated. The extraction efficiency increased 2.7 times using combined utilization of ultra-sonication with repeated freeze-thaw than that without cell disruption. Palmitic acid and linoleic acid occupied 31.44% and 30.01% among total fatty acids in the lipid of Chlorella sp. USTB-01, respectively. Biodiesel was synthetized by the homogeneous catalysis reaction of transesterification using KOH as catalyst. The results showed that the optimum reaction conditions are as follows: reaction temperature 60 degrees C, molar ratio of methanol to oil 6:1, reaction time 1 h, catalyst quantity 1.5% (based on oil weight), and the biodiesel yield of 92% was obtained. Furthermore butanone as co-solvent was found to increase the transesterification efficiency from 92% to 95%. The major components in the produced biodiesel are fatty acid methyl-esters containing C16 and 018, which is an ideal substitute for fossil diesel fuel.
