摘要

This article proposes a display format and associated procedure for reporting statistical point estimators and their precision in statistical experiments. For each estimator, two values are reported, separated by a semicolon. The first value is the reported point estimate, which omits meaningless digits, as defined by LDR(1), the previously published standard leading-digit rule. The second value is the reported standard error, which omits all digits after its leading digit. Three sometimes-conflicting criteria-(i) minimal loss of statistical information; (ii) minimal number of reporting positions required; and (iii) maximal appeal to all levels of user sophistication-were used to guide the creation of the leading-digit format for use when reporting many point estimates in tabular form.
