摘要

The objective of this study was to identify the prevalence of poor sleep quality and assess its association with pain in the cervical and scapular waist in amateur adolescents athletes from the city of Petrolina (PE). The study included 309 adolescent athletes practicing many sports, aged between 10 and 19 years. The data collection was carried out using the following tools: (1) a structured questionnaire, containing personal information and concerning sports practice; (2) sleep quality index of Pittsburgh (PSQI); and (3) body diagram of Corlett, for localization of pain in the following body segments. A descriptive analysis was performed of the categorical and numeric variables, and to assess the association between two variables, we used the Chi-square test. Subsequently, it was held binary logistic regression, with an estimate of the odds ratio (odds ratio = OR) and 95% confidence intervals. The average age of participants was 14.16 (+/- 12.12), being of 14.59 (+/- 2.15) for boys and 13.58 (+/- 1.95) for girls. The poor quality of sleep showed a prevalence of 28.2% and was shown to be associated with the variables age and presence of pain in the cervical region and scapular waist. Adolescents aged between 15 and 19 years have OR = 3.40 (95% CI 1.89-6.12) and those who reported pain in the cervical region and scapular waist feature OR = 3.00 (95% CI 1.53-5.97) for poor quality of sleep. In this way, it is concluded that adolescent athletes older and with pain in the cervical region and scapular waist have more chances to present bad sleep quality.
