摘要

In the current research, the effects of Sr and Ca on the microstructure and tensile properties of A357-20%Al2O3 composite have been investigated. The results showed that addition of both elements improves the microstructural features. A uniform distribution of alumina particles in A357 matrix alloy and a modified structure of silicon were seen with the addition of Ca and Sr. The results also showed that the addition of combined Sr and Ca makes an acceptable improvement of ultimate tensile strength values. The study of fractured specimens showed more broken Al2O3 particles and acceptable cohesion between Al2O3 and matrix in Sr and Ca modified specimens.
