Microstructures of TC4 alloy weld joints by electronic beam welding

The microstructures of TC4 weld beads by electronic beam welding (EBW) with different welding parameters were studied. The results show that the shapes of weld bead are different with the change of the weld parameters, but the phases in weld seam are almost the same. The microstructure gradient in weld seam is dependent on the shape of the weld bead. The larger the angle of seam is, the larger of the size gradient of martensite gets. The micro-hardness in weld bead is HV30-50 than that of the base material. The micro-hardness in the different shape of weld beads is consistent with the microstructures gradient in the weld bead.
