摘要

This paper provides a step-by-step approach for self-reliant nuclear power technology programs, based on Korea's experience on the successful self-reliant nuclear power development programs employed from 1980s to 2000s which includes a turnkey strategy, a component supply localization strategy and a self-reliant technology development strategy. Self-reliant nuclear power development programs are to be destined to aim at acquiring exclusive technology ownership by doing such the development for oneself. In parallel, self-reliant nuclear fuel technology programs may be performed similarly with the strategy applied to the nuclear power technology programs that may provide an excellent guideline to developing countries trying to newly introduce nuclear fuel technology. In addition, major activities of nuclear fuel technology developments are described in detail, which includes conceptual designs, screening tests, detail designs, out-of-pile and in-reactor verification tests, license and region implementation. Current nuclear power plant status in Korea including nuclear fuel status is provided.
