The successful preparation of the first bis(m-phonylene)-32-crown-10/paraquat [2]rotaxane showed unambiguously that psuedorotaxane-type complexation, rather than the taco-complex-type complexation previously observed in the solid state and in solution, exists - in solution for complexation between bis(m-phenylene)-32-crown-10 derivatives and paraquat derivatives.
