摘要

The software for die casting, PAM-CASTTM, was utilized to simulate the low pressure die casting process of magnesium wheel. Through calculation of temperature field and velocity field during the filling and solidification stages, the evolution of temperature distribution and liquid fraction was analyzed. Then, the potential defects were forecasted. The formation mechanism was analyzed considering the unique character of magnesium alloy. The reasons leading to them were given and the solutions were put forward. Through reducing the pouring velocity, the air gas entrapments and partial shrinkages can be eliminated effectively.
