New utilization of residue oil utilization in synthesizing photosensitizer

It is urgent to improve the utilization efficiency of residue oil due to its output increasing every year. Residue oil is mainly used for the preparation of carbon materials, such as mesophase pitch, mesocarbon microbeads, activated carbon, etc. In order to achieve higher value-added applications of residue oil, new utilization should be found. Based on the research achievements in recent years, it is found that the aromatic hydrocarbons separated from residue oil can be modified through organic reaction, and then used as photosensitizer with high photoelectric conversion efficiency. The residue oil provides a rich photosensitizer source for solar cells, and gets wide applications as well.
