摘要
A novel red-emitting Mn4+ doped BeAl2O4 single crystal is synthesized by a Czochralski technique. Narrow red emission is observed from the Mn4+ ions occupying Al3+ sites in distorted octahedrons. Crystal field parameter Dq, Racah parameters B and C are determined to be 2392,1423 and 3332 cm(-1), respectively. The value of Dq/B indicates that Mn4+ ions are in a weak crystal field. The quenching temperature and activation energy are calculated from the temperature-dependent measurement for emission intensity and decay time. A detailed discussion of thermal quenching mechanism reveals that the crossover via the T-4(2) level is the main quenching route in the prepared material.
