摘要

This paper focuses on vertical handover (VHO) mechanism of transport-layer, by means of SCTP protocol and its extensions. Due to the receiver buffer (short for rbuf) blocking problem brought by the independent-path congestion control mSCTP-CMT policy, this paper proposes an adaptive handover scheme based on path prediction called mSCTP-CMTPP as the handover scheme in the overlap area. It adopts the path-bandwidth measuring and failure instant reporting methods, adaptively providing the optimal handover scheme in the overlap area according to different link conditions. Through model analysis and simulation, it is demonstrated this scheme can effectively reduce the handover delay and the rbuf blocking, and optimize data throughput during the handover process as well, thus to improve the handover performance.
