摘要

A quantified stereological characterization approach is used to study the macrodispersion of polycarbonate/carbon nanotube nanocomposites with visually similar microstructures and differing material properties. Through the use of this stereological macrodispersion tool, observed agglomeration states are quantified from optical images of the nanocomposite cross-sections and resulting data processed with Wicksell%26apos;s corpuscle problem to estimate the volume macrodispersion state. This characterization method provides an industry friendly tool for performance and quality assessment. Through mechanical and rheological property correlation, it is found that the size of agglomerates and frequency of large agglomerates are clear indicators of nanocomposite performance.
