Iterative multi-user detection algorithm for UWB communication systems

To investigate the multi-user detection in UWB communication systems, the Turbo principle is brought into the multi-user detection in UWB multiple-access communication systems, and a scheme of joint detection of Turbo code and multi-user detection in TH-UWB multiple access communication system-iterative (Turbo) multi-user detector is proposed. A low complexity implementation is presented. The implementation is based on the soft interference cancellation and minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) filter. The performance characteristic of the low-complexity implementation has been examined using simulations in UWB indoor channel. Our numerical results show that the new receiver significantly improves the system performance. Moreover, after little iteration, multiple access interference (MAD is efficiently suppressed, and a performance better than traditional receiver is achieved.
