摘要

The insulation treatment for electrode sidewall is an effective way for improving the accuracy of holes manufactured by electrochemical drilling. However, the existing insulation process for electrode sidewall requires improvement in the durability of the fabricated insulation layer. The current study proposed a new electrode sidewall insulation method. The double insulating layers which consisted of TiO2 ceramic coating and organic film were fabricated on the electrode sidewall combining the micro-arc oxidation (MAO) and cathodic electrophoresis coating techniques. The influence of electrolyte jetting pressure, machining voltage, and the thickness of TiO2 ceramic coating and organic film on the durability of the double insulating layers in electrochemical drilling was analyzed through experiments. The experimental results showed that the double insulting layers performed good durability in electrochemical drilling, and a series of fine-shaped holes can be fabricated by electrode with such insulation layers.
