Microstructures with minimal-surface interfacial morphologies have been found to enhance simultaneous transport. To compare the transport properties of such systems with those formed naturally, we calculated transport properties governed by Laplace's equation such as thermal and electrical transport for bicontinuous structures resulting from coarsening after phase separation and found them nearly as efficient as those with minimal-surface morphologies. Our finding indicates that spinodal decomposition may provide a plausible route to self-assembly of three-dimensional two-phase composites with nearly optimized multifunctionality.
