During the construction of the concrete cut-off wall at Huangbizhuang reservior, five big collapses had occurred. In order to study the horizontal stress distribution of the foundation, the foundation was simplified to infinite elastic foundation with rectangular hole. Using conformal mapping function, infinite elastic foundation with rectangular hole was made conformal mapping to the circle, and stress function expression was derived. Combination with boundary conditions of the cut-off wall of Huangbizhuang reservior, stress distribution of the foundation was derived at any depth. The result showed that stress concentration occurred at the corner. Firstly the destruction of the soil occurred at the most concentrated stress areas, and then gradually expanded.
