Large osteochondral defects of the glenohumeral joint are difficult to treat in young, active patients. Advanced surgical techniques have been developed that allow for biological resurfacing of the joint without using prosthetic implants, and such techniques offer potential benefits including faster rehabilitation, pain relief, and easier revision surgery if necessary.
