Dosage adjustment of antibiotics in patients belonging to special populations is a necessity.
Antibiotic under-dosage may expose to the risk of selection of resistant mutants and over-dosage to the risk of side effects.
In patients Who are Overweight or obese, this adaptation is particularly complex because of many pharmacokinetics variations due to physiological changes in this population.
We review the latest data on antibiotic pharmacokinetics in overweight patients in order to offer clinicians the keys helping them to adapt antibiotic dosage in such patients.
