Excitation functions were calculated for the alpha-particle induced reactions In-115(alpha, x)Sn-117m, (114)cd(alpha ,n)(117m)sn, Cd-116(alpha ,3n)Sn-117m and (nat)cd(alpha ,x)Sn-117m to analyse the production of the medically important Sn-117m (T-1/2 = 13.6 d) For calculations three nuclear model codes (i.e. TALYS, EMPIRE and ALICE-IPPE) were used and the results were compared with the available experimental data. For the most important reaction, Cd-116 (alpha, 3n)Sn-117m, evaluated data are presented. The yield and radionuclidic purity of Sn-117m from each reaction are dismissed.
