Auxiliary ligand-assisted structural variation of two Co(II) metal-organic frameworks: Syntheses, crystal structure and magnetic properties

Two Co(II)-containing complexes, (Co-6(SO4)(2)(BTEC)(OH)(4)center dot 3H(2)O], (1) and [Co-2(BTEC)(4-bpdb)(H2O)(2)center dot 4H(2)O](r) (2) (H4BTEC = 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid; 4-bpdb = 1,4-bis(4-pyridyI)-2,3-diaza-1,3-butadiene) have been successfully synthesized. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that complex 1 exhibits a 3D intricate framework, whereas 2 features a pillared-layer with (4,5)-connected net topology. Magnetic studies demonstrate that antiferromagnet and weak ferromagnetism behaviour are observed in 1 and 2, respectively.
