摘要

This paper proposes an adaptive superframe structure for low rate wireless personal area networks (LR-WPAN). The current superframe structure of IEEE 802.15.4 has two limitations: one is that the maximum number of available GTSs is 7, which means that only a few devices can be given QoS support, and the other is that bandwidth waste can increase exponentially as superframe order (SO) value increases. The proposed superframe structure can minimize the waste of bandwidth in CFP and extend the maximum number of GTSs to 127 by adaptively reducing the size of a time slot as the value of SO increases. Plus, this paper proposes an adaptive CSMA-CA algorithm based on SO values. The performance analysis shows that the proposed scheme can efficiently increase bandwidth utilization and throughput when comparing with IEEE 802.15.4.
