摘要

Two type of 18V 40/45 diesel engines in one of power plant of Dongguan made by MAN B&W company are damaged due to the crack of the crankshaft which is caused by sinter. In this paper, on-the-spot investigation is made, together with the analysis of the reasons for the damage of bearing shell. Results show that the poor lubrication condition during the working of the diesel engine acts as the main reason for sinter. When the lubricating oil is insufficient, friction heat rises, which causes the crankshaft and the bearing shell bear very high thermal load. Therefore, the damage of the bearing shell occurs. In addition, abnormal wear of the crankshaft resulted from the unbalanced load is another reason for sinter.
