Before and after stope rock strata's fracture, the phenomenon of electromagnetic radiation appears during the process of coal and rock's stress state re-distribution near the fracture area; the electromagnetic radiation monitoring method is applied in hard roof face's weighting prediction of Beijing 218 Coal Mu Chengjian in this paper. By analysis of coal or rock electromagnetic radiation characteristics before working face, roof sport laws can be inferred and roof rock's falling can be predicted in goaf. Site monitoring and research results show that, electromagnetic radiation precursory information near the working face's upper and lower entry ahead location is stronger than other test areas; at the working face roof's relatively stable stage, electromagnetic radiation signal is more stable; and when the working face reach forward roof's fracture distance, during the roof ends' fracture and stress transfer process, the coal and rock's electromagnetic radiation signal produces mutation; before large areas' roof falling in goaf, the general electromagnetic radiation signal presents "M" type. Electromagnetic radiation method is a new way for mine monitoring roof movement, which enriches the methods for studying stope rock strata movement.
