摘要

A series of Dy3+-doped glass samples, such as NaF-B2O3-Al2O3 and CaF2-B2O3-Al2O3-CaSO4, was synthesized by using the fusion method, and their optical properties were investigated based on the Judd - Ofelt (JO) theory. The density, refractive index, optical absorption, JO parameters, Omega(2), branching ratios, beta(R), and transition probabilities, A(ED), have been determined and evaluated. Effects of Na, Ca, and sulphate on the photoluminescent intensity, the lifetime, and the luminescent yield have also been explained by using the JO theory. A close relationship was deduced between the chemical composition of the glasses and the values of the JO parameters. The JO intensity parameters have maximum values in the calcium sulphate-fluoroborate glasses due to the strong asymmetry for the bonding of Dy3+ caused by calcium ions with a large radius.
