摘要

Wattle construction is a mixed technique used on walls and that belong to the frameworks family. It is constructed with a structural frame (wood or bamboo) filled in with a mixture of clay mud in a plastic state and vegetable fiber. In this paper thermal transmittance and soft shock resistance had been studied, thermal transmittance had been measured with wattle samples of 0.10 m thickness, and result in 2.64 W/m(2)K and with the addition of expanded polystyrene sheet of 5 mm thicknees inside the panel, the transmittance was 2.02 W/m(2)K. These values are batter than a brick wall of 0.20 m thick with a finish plaster on both sides of the wall, whose value is 4.13 W/m(2)K. For impact resistance, panels were constructed and tested to soft shock, on 1:1 scale. The permanent deformation in all cases was less than 3.6 mm required by the current standard. This implies that there was no appreciable deformations suffered enclosures providing security to a home. It's concludes that has a good thermal and structural behavior, plus the characteristics of being economical and appropriate for selfconstruction, make feasible to implement as a massive scale.
