The title compound, C(9)H(8)N(4)O(3)S, shows a layer structure constructed from intermolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot O and O-H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bonds. Interatomic distances suggest that extensive, but not uniform, pi-electron delocalization is present in the tetrazole rings and extends over the exocyclic C-S bond.
