Aggregation of TiO2 Nanotubes as Recyclable Catalyst for Photocatalytic Degradation of Methylene Blue

摘要

For the first time aggregation of titania nanotubes was observed. A similar hydrothermal method but different posttreatment was used to obtain TiO2 nanotubes. Characterization of aggregation of titania nanotubes was performed by field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. This new morphology of titania nanotubes presented a better photocatalytic activity than that of P25 to degrade methylene blue. Samples can be recycled and reapplied in many photodegradation cycles, maintaining 90% of their activity after 10 cycles of reaction. The aggregation of TiO2 nanotubes presents a promising material in the area of photocatalysts for practical use.
