摘要

Developments in molecular biotechnology have led to rapid growth of new methods for diagnosing and controlling fish and shellfish diseases. Molecular techniques that are increasingly employed to diagnose fish and shellfish diseases include polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of nucleic acids, restriction enzyme digestion, real-time PCR, DNA microarray, rapid nucleic acid interference (RNAi), and nanotechnology. Molecular techniques are potentially faster and more sensitive than culture, serological, and histological methods. Pathogens from fish and shellfish can be detected by molecular diagnostic techniques to prevent occurrence of disease from viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic origins. In this paper, molecular tools for the detection and control of fish and shellfish diseases are reviewed. New developments in molecular biology will significantly impact the diagnosis and control of aquatic diseases.
