Melting temperatures of solids using the theory of equation of state

A simple method based on the theory of equation of state of solids is used to predict the melting temperatures of sixteen alkali halide solids. The results are compared with the experimental data. A good agreement between theory and experiment supports the validity of the model used. The method can also be used to determine B'(o) when the melting temperatures are known.
