A new three-dimensional (3-D) microporous fluorogallophosphate, named Mu-28, was obtained by hydrothermal synthesis. It was obtained in the presence of fluoride ions with 1,4-dimethylpiperazine as organic template. This new fluorogallophosphate, with chemical formula [Ga20P20O80(OH)(6)F-6(H2O)(degrees)(4)(C6H16N2)(6)] 8H(2)O, crystallizes.in the monoclinic system space group P2(1) with the following unit cell parameters: a = 13.23(1)Angstrom, b = 15.40(1)Angstrom, c = 14.80(1)Angstrom, beta = 95.10(9)degrees (Z = 1, R-1 = 0.0435 [I>2sigma(I)]). Its structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction with the help of P-31 NMR spectroscopy. Mu-28 consists of a complex arrangement of GaO3(OH,F)(H2O)(2), GaO4(OH)F and GaO4(OH)(2) octahedra, GaO4F trigonal bipyramids and GaO3(OH,F) and PO4 tetrahedra. It displays a 3-D channel system delimited by 12-membered ring openings.
