A theory is developed to treat the operation of "stimulated photorefractive backscattering and four-wave mixing" (SPB-FWM) self-pumped phase conjugation, which is based on a reasonable view that the phase conjugate reflection always attempts to reach a steady equilibrium by selecting the operative parameter. Under the conditions of the reasonable physical parameters of the crystals, numerical results demonstrate that phase conjugate reflectivity as high as 80% is experimentally attainable.
