PM10 emissions from a quarry

For a quarry in Saxony PM10 emissions of 17 to 49 kg/h per mean hour of production (equivalent to approx. 49 bis 142 g/t of good) were determined from immission data and by recalculation with LASAT. During of the evaluation period the mean emissions are composed of 29 kg/h by processes of fracturing, grading and relocation; 3 kg/h by truck loading (driving and loading); 1.6 kg/h by deflation and %26lt; 0.5 kg/h by ducted sources. The project-specific PM10 emission forecast based on the recorded operation conditions yields a total emission of PM10 of 67 kg/h per mean hour of operation. While the emissions from processes of production, loading and transport were overestimated by a factor of about 2 to 3, the emissions from deflation were underestimated by the exceeds the bandwidth of the PM10 emission during the mean hour of production derived from the immission data by a factor of about 1.4 to 4.0 (average 2.0). Therefore this PM10 emission forecast would be conservative.
