This article focuses on the time study of behavioral components of work activity. The method time measurement (MTM-1) system is a powerful tool for analyzing behavioral components of activity. However, the MTM-1 system's rules for the selection of basic elements for tasks' description are necessary but insufficient. Professionals can use the MTM-1 system rules effectively only after analyzing strategies of a task performance and studying the logical organization of motor and cognitive actions. The results of this study demonstrate that the MTM-1 system can be used for analyzing behavioral components of activity only after analyzing real strategies of task performance. 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
