Retardet healing of a complicated multifragment radius fracture in a Shetland pony stallion

The case report discusses the successful treatment of a closed radius fracture with the help of one interfragmentary compression screw and two locking compression plates (LCP) in a mini Shetland pony stallion. Ten months postoperatively, the medial plate had to be removed because of a persisting fistulous tract as a result of an implant infection. The multifragment fracture of the radius was completely healed at 22 months postoperatively. The pony was sound in all three gaits and was again used for driving purposes.
