For a real hypersurface M of class C-2 in C-n, n %26gt;= 2, an explicit formula for the Levi form of the distance function delta(M) to M is given in terms of the Hermitian matrix (partial derivative(2)rho/partial derivative z(i)partial derivative(z) over bar (j)) and the symmetric matrix (partial derivative(2)rho/partial derivative z(i)partial derivative z(j)) determined by the defining function rho with parallel to grad rho parallel to = 1 of M.
