NUCLEOTIDE-SEQUENCES OF BSTUI REPETITIVE ELEMENTS FROM NUCLEAR-DNA OF CHLORELLA-ELLIPSOIDEA C-87

A ladder-like pattern of DNA fragments appeared when the nuclear DNA of Chlorella ellipsoidea C-87 was digested with BstUI and separated by agarose gel electrophoresis. The DNA fragments of the ladder were cloned and sequenced, and were divided into two groups of repetitive sequence families whose members share a 15-16 bp resemblant sequence (5'-GCCAAACGTCTCTGG-3'). These BstUI repetitive sequences are strain-specific, but distributed through all 9 chromosomes of strain C-87.
