The dication of the title cluster salt, [(n(5)-C5Me5)(2)Mo-2(mu(3)- S)(4)-Cu-2(PhNH2)(2)](ClO4)(2)center dot 0.5PhNH(2) or [Mo2Cu2(C10H15)(2)S-4-(C6H7N)(2)](ClO4)(2)center dot 0.5C(6)H(7)N, features an [Mo2S4Cu2] cubane-like core structure. The Cu-I atom, coordinated by three bridging S atoms and the N atom of an aniline ligand, exhibits a tetrahedral coordination geometry. The uncoordinated aniline molecule is disordered over two positions related by an inversion centre.
