摘要

When Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) was performed on an Al-1 wt%Mg alloy, it was noticed that at ultrafine grain sizes (less than 1 mu m) the material did not display any yield point in the initial stress-strain response. However, at grain sizes above 1 mu m stress-strain curves behaved as expected. Moreover, for grain sizes of less than 1 mu m, Luders bands completely disappear in the diagram. It is suggested that this effect can be attributed to the evolution (rapid) rate of sub-boundary misorientation at the early stages of deformation. This behavior has been reported before but no available work hardening theory is capable of explaining this grain size effect on stage III until now.
