An acid post-hydrolysis was carried out after the autohydrolysis process of the olive-pruning debris, a renewable, low-cost and widely available agricultural waste. Applied on the solid remainder obtained after the autohydrolysis, a post-hydrolysis with 1 N sulphuric acid at 90 degrees C neither increases the cellulose conversion nor produces lignin degradation. However, applied on the hydrolysate, sugar yields in the liquid rose from 0.8% up to 11.4% for D-glucose and from 0.1 to 7.8% for D-xylose in the assayed conditions. Finally, the hydrolysate can be considerate free of phenolic compounds.
