This paper analyzed the characteristics of the switched reluctance linear generator. The details of the flux paths configuration on the minimum inductance position and on the maximum inductance position are included. The calculation of the inductance in each region, the minimum phase inductance, the maximum phase inductance, and the flux-linkage at minimum phase inductance position and at maximum phase inductance position are given. The magnetic flux links model based on the radial basis function neural networks with the mathematical mapping relationship between the mover position and the phase current to the magnetic flux links is established. Simulation and the experimental study with the prototype hardware arc carried out on three velocities of the mover. It is shown that the simulated phase current waveforms are consistent with the experimental results. The analytical calculation of flux-linkage at minimum inductance position and at maximum inductance position, the radial basis neural networks magnetic flux links model, and the model of calculating phase current are validated.
