摘要

Mass spectrometry is rapidly expanding its role in clinical chemistry. Historically, it has been used primarily for small molecule analysis, but now the field seems set for a rapid growth in protein and peptide analysis. Small molecule analysis applications can be grouped roughly into the analysis of endogenous compounds and the analysis of exogenous compounds. The analysis of exogenous compounds is largely the domain of toxicology, and this article focuses on the following 2 toxicology topics: therapeutic drug monitoring and trace element analysis.
