摘要

Based on S. P. Timoshenko energy method, static analysis of T-shape rigid frame bridge with high pier and long span was done. Mathematical formula of the critical height of the varying cross-section pier for stability and the maximum height of it for strength were derived. The related curves between the critical height and the maximum height and configuration parameters were given. The influences of gradient changes of the inside and outside wall of pier on the critical height and the maximum height were studied by programming. And limit gradients to distinguish between big flexible column and small one among engineering variable cross-section columns were given. It was used to judge if the engineering members subject to compression with variable cross-section need stability checking. The results show that the above method is easy and effective to guide engineering significantly. This method can be extended to piers design during self-construction of any bridge. It can be used for the T-shape statically determinate system of continuous rigid frame bridge during construction as well.
